Interior Trim Mouldings
Robopod® has published a new case study, illustrating the use of their reconfigurable robotic system for ultrasonic welding of interior trim for an automotive client.
Robopod® offers a unique plug-and-play solution which is very versatile as it can be fitted with different end of arm tooling for a range of processes.
In this case study, the Robopod® was configured with twin weld heads for two styles of weld, fitted on the 6 axis robot arm. Quick and easy programming means that the solution is rapidly available for use.
The machine was set up to weld a structural carrier to the back of an interior trim moulding providing a strong fixing with a repeatable process and no visible marking – all completed in under 2 seconds and avoiding the need for glue, screws or other fixings. The process included ‘poke-yoke’ component check when loading for greater production line efficiency.
