Mechatronic Exceeds Client Expectations On Quality And Reliability

dots

The Client’s Challenge

Brose UK is part of the multinational Brose Group, which supplies automotive door and seat products to leading seat producers and over 30 vehicle marques.

It approached Mechatronic to integrate a cell of eight machines for the assembly and function-test of the window winder mechanism used by Jaguar and Volvo.

The Client’s Specific Needs

The machines had to:

  • wind the draw wire around two pulleys
  • check force applied
  • count a specified number of screws to torque
  • check for cross-wound cables – all within a determined cycle time.

The project also required Mechatronic’s involvement with installation, commissioning and training on site.

The Mechatronic Solution

Mechatronic used its unique Kaizen approach, working closely with the customer’s engineers and operators, to develop the suite of machines. The rigorous demands of the application required a very robust, poke yoke process.

The torque and force measuring features of these machines were essential to produce the quality the customer required. The finished assembly also needed engraving to give full batch traceability and each was simultaneously tested against exacting criteria to ensure conformity.

The Results

The customer’s expectations on quality and reliability were exceeded and a further batch of machines was ordered for assemblies to be supplied.
